The UKCCSRC recently announced that it has received funding to support the Centre for a further five years, to 2022. The new phase of funding will see a few changes to how the Centre operates, including how we run the biannual meetings.
We will continue to organise two meetings a year but the format of one of the meetings is set to change. To match the needs of the Centre’s new research programme and provide a more relevant series of sessions to better serve the varying needs of our membership, the agenda will include multiple programmes of events designed specifically for different groups of delegates, set out below.
The first of these new ‘Programme Biannuals’ will take place on 12 September in Sheffield.
Wider UKCCSRC Membership: Instead of the usual afternoon and following morning event, we will run a programme of plenary and parallel sessions spanning one full day on 12 September, covering CCS research across the UK. If you are travelling up the night before, you are welcome to join us for networking drinks and buffet dinner on 11 September. This programme will also be available to FERF members, in a joint event.
Early Career Researchers (ECRs): This group will receive a tailored two-day (afternoon on 11 September and full day on 12 September) programme of events, including a poster competition and buffet dinner. You can apply for travel funding and request accommodation through our ECR meeting travel fund.
Scientific Council: New for this phase of funding is the creation of a UKCCSRC Scientific Council made up of PIs from recent and ongoing UK CCS research projects. This group are invited to attend the full day programme on 12 September, which will include specific plenary sessions for the Scientific Council and the opportunity to join parallel sessions to hear about CCS research from across the UK. Scientific Council members are welcome to join us for networking drinks and buffet dinner on 11 September.
UKCCSRC Research Team: There will be a programme of internal meetings for this group starting on the afternoon of 11 September followed by the networking drinks and dinner. On 12 September, there is a full day programme that includes specific plenary sessions for the Research Team and the opportunity to join parallel sessions to hear about CCS research from across the UK.
Independent Advisory Panel: IAP members are invited to attend sessions starting on the afternoon of 11 September, with the IAP feedback meeting taking place on the same day, followed by the networking drinks and dinner. On 12 September the IAP are welcome to join a programme of plenary and parallel sessions spanning the full day.
We're working on a finalised agenda that we will release shortly. In the meantime, below is an outline of the running order of the day.
Our spring meeting, which will be held at the University of Cambridge (dates yet to be confirmed), will follow the same format of the ‘Network Biannual’ meetings that we have held over the previous years.
