Dr Yilin Gui graduated from University of New South Wales with a PhD in geotechnical engineering and Central South University with a BEng in Mining Engineering. He is now working in Newcastle University as a Lecturer in Geotechnical Engineering. Before the current position, he was Research Fellow in Nanyang Technological University and Monash University. His research is mainly focused on rock and soil mechanics, and their applications in geoenvironmental engineering. He has published more than 30 papers in journals and conferences. His latest research project involves the wellbore stability for carbon sequestration in geological form (one PhD student is working in this project).
