Professor Peter Cook, a geologist by training, is a Professorial Fellow at the University of Melbourne and Principal Adviser to CO2CRC. He was for 13 years the Chief Executive of the Cooperative Research Centre for Greenhouse Gas Technologies (CO2CRC) and its predecessor APCRC, a position from which he stepped down in 2011. Previous roles have included Director of the British Geological Survey, President of Eurogeosurveys, Chief/Associate Director of the Bureau of Mineral Resources, Senior Research Fellow at ANU and Field Geologist. Professor Cook has served on a range of Boards and Committees and has received many awards during his career, including the British CBE, the Centennial Medal, the Lewis G Weekes Medal, the French Order of Merit, the German Leopold von Buch Medal and most recently, the Greenman Award of the International Energy Agency Greenhouse Gas Program. He has published more than 150 papers, reports and books and was a Coordinating Lead Author for the IPCC Special Publication on CCS. His book ‘Clean Energy Climate and Carbon” was published in 2012 and is editor of a major volume on the Otway Project to be published mid 2014 by Wiley.
