Mark is sharing the Independent Advisory Panel Role with Sarah Tennison

Mark is the Technical Manager for NEPIC (the North East Process Industry Cluster) based in the UK where he is responsible for projects and investment opportunities being developed by the cluster with the industry members.  He focuses on the key areas of competitiveness and of technology development.   Specifically these include infrastructure, logistics and energy projects, as well as looking at productivity issues in the supply chain.

He was closely involved with the delivery of the Tees Valley Industrial Programme and in particular the Energy & Infrastructure elements.  This work has continued and includes developing and promoting an industrial carbon capture & storage (CCS) initiative for the region as well as developing district heating opportunities.

He is leading a consortium of 15 companies who are working together within the EU Framework 7 project LOCIMAP (Low Carbon Industrial Manufacturing Parks). This is developing a vision for low carbon resource efficient process parks across the EU which will address both climate change and economic competitiveness.

Mark’s earlier career includes over 20 years in ICI variously as an electrical & instrument engineering manager, a business planner and latterly developing an engineering business which is now part of ABB. He then spent 6 years as CEO of PICME, the lean manufacturing initiative for the process industry in the UK, before joining NEPIC in 2006.
