Greg is head of the Alternative Energy Concepts group within Alstom’s Future Technologies organisation at Rugby, UK. With a 20 year time horizon, this group looks into technology assessment and development including fuel cells, nuclear generation IV cycles, biomass, renewables, systems modelling etc. Since 2013, he has also acted as Scientific Collaboration Manager looking after Alstom Power’s interactions with external bodies/ universities in the UK.
Greg graduated from Leeds University in 1986 with a Masters degree in Chemical Engineering. Prior to joining Alstom, his first appointment was at the former UK state coal company (British Coal) at their Coal Research Establishment. He then took up his current employment with ALSTOM in 1995, in the Combustion Group, of which he became the Group Head in 2001.
Greg also carries out a number of roles external to ALSTOM, including:
- Chairman of Biomass and Fossil Fuel Research Alliance (BF2RA)
- Coal Research Forum Industry Chairman
- Vice-chair of the Advanced Power Generation Technology Forum (APGTF)
