Dr Gang LU received the B.Eng. degree in mechanical engineering from Central South University, Changsha, China, in 1982 and the Ph.D. degree in advanced combustion instrumentation from the University of Greenwich, U.K., in 2000. He started his career as a Research Engineer and worked on mechanical design and engineering development for iron- and steel-making industry in China for more than ten years. He worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the University of Greenwich and the University of Kent, U.K. from 2000 to 2006. He is currently a Senior Lecturer in Electronic Instrumentation with the School of Engineering and Digital Arts, the University of Kent. His main area of research is combustion instrumentation. He has been involved in a range of projects on advanced monitoring and characterization of fossil fuel fired flames. He is also a Chartered Engineer and a member of the Energy Institute (U.K.).
