Dr Eva Sanchez Fernandez is Assistant Professor and Associate Director for Outreach and Industry at the Research Centre for Carbon Solutions in the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences at Heriot-Watt University. Eva received her PhD from Delft University of Technology (The Netherlands) and has worked over 8 years in carbon capture focussing on capture plant design, operation and integration into CCS networks. She has broad expertise in the design and development of novel technology, modelling, scaling-up CO2 capture processes and validation at pilot scale, acquired in her previous work at The University of Edinburgh and TNO (Dutch Organisation for Applied Scientific Research). She has authored many publications and patents in the field of carbon capture and has been an active member of various FP7 European research projects (CASTOR, CESAR, Decarbit). Eva is also leading the research carried out for ALIGN-CCUS, a recently awarded EU project to look at the feasibility of CCS in several locations in Europe.
