Cyril Crua is Professor of Engineering with 20 years' experience in optical and laser-based diagnostics. He was awarded the 2003 Richard Way Prize for the ‘most outstanding doctoral thesis in the area of IC engines in the UK’ by the Universities Internal Combustion Engines Group (UnICEG). He is a Visiting Researcher at the Universiti Teknologi Petronas (Malaysia), and at the CRF at Sandia National Laboratories (California) where he achieved the very first visualisations of trans- and super-critical droplets at the microscopic scale, for which he was awarded the triennial 2015 Tanasawa Award by ICLASS. He is a member of the EPSRC Peer Review College, Supergen Science Board, recruitment selection committees for the French CNRS, grant selection panels for the French National Research Agency (ANR), and a member of the Editorial Board for the international journal Engine and Automotive Engineering.
