International Research Collaboration Fund – Call 1

Call 3 of the UKCCSRC International Research Collaboration Fund was launched on 27 February 2015.

Recipients of the third round of funding were:

Dr Sai Gu (Cranfield University)
Travel to Norway to work with Hanna Knuutila (Chemical Engineering Department, NTNU) on the development of new solvents to use in the chemical absorption process involving an experimental section for the characterisation of the solvent and the construction of a flexible simulation model. September 2015 – September 2016.

Dr Nelia Jurado Pontes (Cranfield University)
Travel to USA to work with David Miller (Carbon Capture Simulation Initiative, US Department of Energy/NETL) on further development of Dr Pontes’ kinetic simulation model in Aspen Plus of an oxy-combustor where different pulverised fuels (coal, biomass, or mixtures) can be studied. September-December 2015.

Dr Leslie Mabon (Robert Gordon University)
Travel to Japan to work with Dr Jun Kita (CO2 Storage Research Group, Research Institute of Innovative Technology for the Earth) on collaborative research on stakeholder and public perceptions of sub-seabed CO2 storage in Tomakomai, Japan. April-May 2016.

Dr Ronny Pini (Imperial College London)
Travel to USA to work with Sally Benson (Stanford University, Department of Energy Resources Engineering) on project to quantify fluid flow paths and dispersion during immiscible displacements in reservoir rocks. July 2015, August-September 2015, March-April 2016.
