TFI+ webinar: Realistic approaches to reducing CO2 emissions from Cement and Concrete
27 October 2021 @ 14:00 - 15:00
The Transforming Foundation Industries Network + is holding a webinar on Wednesday 27 October 2021 at 14:00 – 15:00 BST on ‘Realistic approaches to reducing CO2 emissions from Cement and Concrete’.
This session will be a presentation from Professor Karen Scrivener on realistic approaches to reducing CO2 emissions from cement and concrete.
Cement and concrete production accounts for some 7-8% or annual CO2 emissions worldwide. The can be attribute solely to the incredibly large volumes produced as concrete has an intrinsic carbon footprint which is lower than almost all alternative materials. Nevertheless there is still considerable scope for reduction, which is critical if we are to achieve carbon neutrality by mid century. Here, Professor Karen Scrivener will look at practical solutions. There is no magic bullet and targets will only be met by a combination of measures.
The webinar is part of the ‘Blue skies, green future’ webinar series, presenting ideas and innovation to spark discussion on the topic of transformation and sustainability within the foundation industries. Webinars will take place each month and with novel ideas and concepts presented by a world-leading researcher in the field. During the session, speakers will discuss a technology which if implemented could transform the foundation industries. The goal is to encourage the audience to consider ways in which their own industry can utilise and embed innovation.
