Next Generation Capture Technologies: 2nd Stakeholder Engagement Workshop – Application of Next Generation Technologies

20 January 2022 @ 14:00 - 16:00

AECOM, the University of Sheffield and BEIS are holding a 2nd online workshop on Thursday 20 January 2022 at 2.00pm – 4.00pm on ‘Next Generation Capture Technologies – Application of Next Generation Technologies’.

Please see resources from the two workshops here.

Carbon capture utilisation and storage (CCUS) is a priority area of the UK Government’s ten-point plan for a green industrial revolution. In support of the plan, the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) must deliver the £1 billion Net Zero Innovation Portfolio (NZIP) between April 2021 and March 2025. This requires development of Advanced CCUS demonstration projects to allow innovation to occur and promote cost effective CO2 emission reduction.

AECOM and the University of Sheffield have been appointed by BEIS to conduct a review of next generation capture technologies and an analysis of selected options. The review will consider the potential application of capture technology to different industrial, waste and power sites. The outputs of the assignment are intended to inform government decisions relating to the provision of innovation support funding for CCUS, and future policy around CCUS deployment. The focus of the BEIS-funded review is on next generation carbon capture technology that can commercially deploy at 500-1000 tCO2 per day or greater between 2025 and 2035.

The second next generation capture technologies workshop is intended to provide a progress update, give technology developers an opportunity to present their technologies and provide a platform for further interaction and industry engagement on application of these technologies in different sectors.

This workshop is likely to be of most interest to:

  • Potential users of carbon capture technology
  • Industry bodies whose members may use carbon capture technology in the future
  • Companies developing next generation carbon capture technology
  • Academics and researchers

The event is free to attend, and we are keen to encourage participation so that we can collectively identify the most effective pathways to deploy CCUS technology in new areas going forward.

Registration is now closed.
