The purpose of the workshop, attended by a mix of industry, academic, policy, regulatory and NGO stakeholders, was to examine DACCS in the context of wider CCS deployment, and to explore ways in which DACCS and point source CCS can best be integrated at the research, deployment, planning – and CCS networking – levels.

Mathieu Lucquiaud, workshop lead, presenting on options and synergies for integrating DACCS with point source CCS
Invited oral presentations, panels and Q&A sessions were used to structure the discussion. Presentations can be found below, where we have permission to share.
Some attendees also submitted virtual poster presentation for discussion in networking periods – see below.
These presentations and posters are the main outputs from the workshop, but some key overall points were:
- CoDACCS is still a novel concept that does not appear to feature explicitly yet in energy/climate scenarios or industry plans for DACCS.
- DACCS is, however, a significant element in UK future scenarios, although at varying levels and with the extent to which it can/will be done overseas still to be determined.
- The main element of DACCS costs is not energy (although this was noted as still being significant) but capital (construction); measures (so potentially including CoDACCS) to reduce UK DACCS construction and financing costs would therefore be beneficial.
The preprint of a paper on ‘Potential advantages for combining DACCS with amine post-combustion capture plants – CoDACCS – and ways to make new plants CoDACCS-ready’ is now available.
