31 May  – First UK coal retrofit proposed

Scottish and Southern Energy plc (“SSE”) has entered into an agreement with Mitsui Babcock, Siemens and UK Coal to undertake the front end engineering design of a carbon capture ready 500MW cleaner coal plant at its Ferrybridge Power Station in West Yorkshire.



29 May – Sir David King wants even more nuclear power.



28 May – Shell and Statoil seek partner to build power station for new ‘clean energy’ project



21 May – The  French energy company EDF want nuclear guarantees from UK government before investing in a new nuclear power station.



16 May – Bad press for the five biggest polluters in UK , who produce more CO2 than all motorists combined apparently. The ‘top’ polluter exceeds Croatia…
