The Spring 2016 UKCCSRC Biannual Meeting was hosted by the University of Manchester on 13-14 April 2016. The UK Carbon Capture and Storage Research Centre (UKCCSRC) is supported by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) as part of the Research Councils UK Energy Programme, with additional funding from the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC).
At the beginning of Manchester Biannual Meeting, Professor Jon Gibbins, Director and Principal Investigator of the UKCCSRC, gave all of us a warm welcome and introduced the essentials of the meeting and projects. Professor Gibbins then invited Ms Teresa Chilton, Project Manager for Manchester Energy, to introduce Manchester Energy Research Centre. We heard that the University of Manchester has wide ranging research and educational expertise in energy technologies and their societal impact: bringing together this expertise is Manchester Energy. Bringing together over 600 researchers from across the University, Manchester Energy supports research and education across the energy spectrum. With access to major experimental facilities, Manchester Energy has an unparalleled resource to support world-class research and teaching that will lead to the development of more sustainable energy solutions and the education of the energy leaders of tomorrow.
