Reporting from the ECR Winter School 2015 – Poster Session

This blog was provided by Seyed Ali Nabavi, Cranfield University, whose attendance at the ECR Winter School 2015 was supported by the UKCCSRC.

The poster session took place throughout the duration of the school, in the main exhibition hall. The friendly atmosphere surrounding the place during the poster session helped the delegates to mingle and get to know each other. The poster session was held every day during the morning break and after the lunch, which provided a great opportunity to get familiar with the research going on in CCS and have a semi-formal discussion.

Overall, on the first two days of the school, the poster session was very interactive. Many small groups could be seen in front of each poster, surrounding the presenter and enjoying the talks. On the third day, Ciara O’Connor and Philip Sharman assessed the posters by having individual talks with the authors to select the best ones.

I found the poster session very useful as I met people who already work in my research field, and had the opportunity to discuss and receive comprehensive comments and suggestions about my project. Moreover, challenging queries of people from different scientific backgrounds brought me to look at my research from different angles.
