BEIS has just published a report on a series of regional CCUS public perceptions dialogues, Carbon capture, usage and storage (CCUS): public dialogue. Our Deputy Director for Systems and Policy, Dr David Reiner, was co-chair (along with Prof Nick Pidgeon at Cardiff University) of the Oversight Group. In addition, there were a number of UKCCSRC core research team involved as specialists who presented to the public, including Prof Stuart Haszeldine and Dr Clair Gough.
Commissioned by BEIS with support from UKRI’s Sciencewise programme, the research is into citizens’ attitudes towards Carbon Capture Usage and Storage (CCUS), including views on:
- future use of CCUS technologies and applications
- aspirations and concerns about CCUS
- how views towards CCUS differ in geographical areas where it may be developed in comparison to geographical areas where development is less likely
- citizens’ expectations in relation to the benefits and impacts of CCUS deployment in local areas
Read the BEIS Public Dialogue report here.
Well done and thank you to our team for their part in this research!
