ULTimateCO2 Final Workshop – The long-term fate of CO2 during geological storage

Technical Workshop “The long-term fate of CO2 during geological storage”

Duration: 1 and 1/2 days (full day on the 28th and morning only on the 29th)

Presentations of the work carried out during the four-year project will be given, with a clear sum-up of the results and any recommendations that can be drawn.

The workshop will consist of three sessions with presentations/discussions concentrating on the high-level criteria, used in the EC Directive, that must be met to be able to demonstrate permanent containment of CO2:

  • Session 1: CONFORMITY OF THE ACTUAL BEHAVIOUR OF THE INJECTED CO2 WITH THE MODELLED BEHAVIOUR
  • Session 2: ABSENCE OF ANY DETECTABLE LEAKAGE
  • Session 3: EVOLUTION TOWARDS A SITUATION OF LONG TERM STABILITY

These high-level criteria have been adopted as the basic structure of the forthcoming ULTimate Guidelines Report. The final meeting and the Guidelines Report go hand-in-hand, first being an oral and interactive expression of ULTimateCO2 outcomes, and the latter being a written trace.
