Guest of Honour: Patrick Feehily, Assistant Director, Environment, GLA
Delegates at this seminar will consider the future of London’s energy policy – looking in particular at the key challenges facing London’s energy infrastructure, and what more can be done to meet rising demand for energy across the Capital. The discussion is scheduled to follow the development of the first London Energy Plan, which will seek to provide a spatial map of energy supply and demand up to 2050, alongside options for delivering the required supporting infrastructure.
Sessions will look at the likely impact of the Energy Plan and challenges for managing London’s growing demand for energy, looking at the potential of ‘smart’ energy demand shifting options and future opportunities for energy storage, as well as current initiatives to retrofit the built environment to reduce demand. Further sessions will focus on what more can be done to develop the security, affordability and sustainability of London’s energy supply, looking in particular at the expansion of new and existing heat and electricity infrastructure. Latest developments in relation to renewable energy projects, as well as the next steps for expanding the use of decentralised and community energy projects, particularly in light of the GLA’s ongoing “Licence Lite” application, will also be considered.
The conference is expected to bring together key policymakers with a range of stakeholders, including energy suppliers and wider market stakeholders, academics, local authorities, law firms, investors, construction and engineering firms, trade associations, consumer bodies, commentators and representatives from trade and national press.
We are delighted that Patrick Feehily, Assistant Director, Environment, GLA has agreed to deliver a keynote address at this seminar.
