COSIA Greenhouse Gas EPA Webinar

The UK Science & Innovation Network and UK Trade & Investment would like to invite you to join a webinar with the Canadian Oil Sands Innovation Alliance (COSIA) outlining their Call for Proposals for their Greenhouse Gas Challenges open to UK businesses, research institutes, academic researchers, consultants, entrepreneurs or inventors. The deadline for proposal submission is March 31, 2015 and proposals can be submitted online through the COSIA Environmental Technology Assessment Portal (E-TAP). Please feel welcome to share with those appropriate within your organization and networks.

COSIA’s Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Environmental Priority Area (EPA) is investigating ways to reduce energy use and associated GHG emissions through the development of innovative technologies for oil sands in situ (in place) and mining operations. The GHG EPA identified key issues facing the industry and is currently accepting proposals, within scope, for Joint Industry Projects via E-TAP submission for the following 6 GHG Challenges:

  • Downhole Steam Generation
  • Enriched Combustion Air
  • Natural Gas Decarbonization
  • Water and Energy Recovery
  • New Heat Exchanger
  • Pressure Let Down

BACKGROUND

Canada’s Oil Sands Innovation Alliance (COSIA) is an alliance of oil sands producers focused on accelerating the pace of improvement in environmental performance in Canada’s oil sands through collaborative action and innovation. COSIA has 13 member companies who represent almost 90 per cent of the oil sands production in Canada. Through COSIA, participating companies capture, develop and share innovative approaches and best thinking to improve environmental performance in the oil sands, focusing on four Environmental Priority Areas (EPAs) – tailings, water, land and greenhouse gases. To date, COSIA member companies have shared 777 distinct technologies and innovations that cost over $950 million to develop.
