IEAGHG: biomass with carbon capture and storage – A review at the systems level

IEAGHG would like to invite you to attend their webinar ‘Biomass with carbon capture and storage – A review at the systems level’ on Aug 26, 2015 2:00 PM BST

In their recent reports, bodies such as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the International Energy Agency (IEA) acknowledge the role bioenergy with carbon dioxide capture and storage (Bio-CCS or BECCS) can play in reducing atmospheric CO2 emissions by delivering “negative emissions”. Most mitigation scenarios limiting the global increase in temperature to 2°C are not likely to achieve their goal when excluding or severely limiting Bio-CCS deployment. Bio-CCS shows significant potential to achieve this reduction at a cost that is comparable with other mitigation options, while at the same time providing versatility, valuable temporary flexibility and an approach for sectors, where reductions are much harder to achieve.

This webinar will provide an overview of the global status of Bio-CCS with a focus on the surrounding sustainability issues rather than technical challenges.
