The Third IEA CCC Workshop on upgrading and efficiency improvement in coal-fired power plants will take place on 16-17 September 2014 at the Shanghai International Convention Center in China in association with the Electric Power Planning and Engineering Institute (EPPEI). This two day meeting will bring together international experts in the field of power plant refurbishment and improvment and include a tour of the Waigaoqiao power plant.
At 5000 MW, the Waigaoqiao power plant is one of the largest in the world. Two 1000 MW ultra supercritical power generation units were put into commercial operation at Shanghai Waigaoqiao No.3 Power Plant in March and June of 2008 respectively. During the project construction, the owner, Waigaoqiao No. 3 Power Generation Co., Ltd, carried out a large number of optimisations and technological innovations in all aspects of project design, equipment selection, construction, commissioning, startup and operation, etc. This increased the net unit efficiency from an original design value of 42.73% to 45.03%. Further research and development is ongoing.
The workshop is expected to provide a forum for the discussion of:
- Efficiency improvement programmes
- Upgrading and retrofit technology
- Plant optimisation
- Combustion optimisation
- Energy and water conservation
- Pollutant control technology
- Advanced USC power generation technology
- CFB power generation technology
Further details of the Workshop will be added to this website as they become available on their website.
