Richard Adamson, the Managing Director of CMC Research Institutes (formerly Carbon Management Canada), visited the UKCCSRC PACT facilities at Beighton, Sheffield on Friday 30 January – once snowploughs had opened the roads across the Pennines to allow him to get there! The time waiting was well-spent, though, with a detailed overview of the facilities provided by Mohamed Pourkshanian the PACT Director. Once at PACT Richard was able to see the full range of air and oxyfuel combustion systems, the flexible research gas turbines systems and the amine capture system that can be linked in a range of configurations.
CMC and the UKCCSRC have a collaborative MOU in place and have undertaken a successful ECR exchange programme. Further links between researchers on existing funded projects are planned, with meetings in London and Oslo in March where the potential for synergies between ongoing activities will be explored.
